The Blue Lake Property Owners Association Long-Range Planning Committee was established to conduct a feasibility study and to develop long range plans to be approved by the POA’s Governing Body for the maintenance and improvement of the general appearance of the community through carefully considered plans to either repair, replace, add to or improve the fixed asset structures owned by the POA.

THE LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE PRESENTS ITS FINAL REPORT TO THE POA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
.
The LRPC presented its final report to the POA Board of Directors on Monday, June 6, 2011. The report included the notes that were taken at the three (3) Town Hall Meetings held in February, March and April, the e-mail responses received from various property owners regarding Long Range Planning items and the “Final Report and Recommendations for “next steps”, should the board wish to proceed. All of these documents are listed below for your review.
We specifically asked the board for approval on four items:
· Suggested next steps
1. Approval to communicate results of town-hall meetings
2. Approval to conduct referendum on specific questions of interest to all property owners.
3. Approval for improvements “favored” as a result of the referendum; form community committees to develop items for action plans
4. Approval to create a permanent POA Board position responsible for community improvement/long-range planning
The board approved two of the items:
#1. Communicate results of town-hall meetings to all property owners
The notes taken at each of the three Town Hall Meetings will be published on the website.
The email comments as a result of the Town Hall Meetings will also be on the website.
A copy of the “Final Report” will be placed on the website.
#4. Create a permanent POA Board position responsible for community improvement/long-range planning
Long Range Planning: (NEW) Bob Burkhalter was appointed.
“Next steps” #2 & #3 were not approved, but would be taken under consideration.
The committee would like to thank all property owners for their support and patience over the last four years. We were successful in improving and upgrading our website, completed a new fitness trail, Bocce court, Horseshoes and Washers at Devil’s Hollow Park. The board voted Monday to refinish the old basketball/tennis court with concrete. So we can say that progress has been made. We hope that we have created awareness in the community that constant and consistent attention to the community infrastructure is necessary in order to maintain and protect property values and accomplish sound financial planning.
The two major projects of interest to the community; the swimming pool and the new community center will require more study, investigation and research than the committee is now authorized to do.
I urge each property owner to review not only the notes of the Town Hall Meetings, the email comments and the Final Report but also the Power Point Presentations given to the board over the last few years. I also urge each of you to remember that your personal feedback to the board (admin@bluelaketx.org) is the most effective way to let the board know how you feel about what is important to you and your community. It is difficult for a volunteer board member to be aware of the “pulse” of the community without your input.
Again, I thank all of you who have written us notes, filled out Surveys, attended Town Hall Meetings, quarterly and annual meetings, sent emails and made telephone calls to express your opinions, ideas and concerns. They were invaluable to the committee and provided not only guidance, but encouragement to realize that all of you have the same interest in the future of this community as we do.
Sincerely,
The Long Range Planning Committee
Bill Stevens
